Just a quick update. Got my decks today. They are everything I hoped for after playing with em for about a hour. I'm also bidding on a Stanton 5 channel mixer that hopefully I win tom. Once I get my mixer I'll be up and running. I'll keep the faithful updated but for now I'm gettin wasted at MSU. Hollllllla

Got Some Decks, so What's Next?

Hellll yeah! Just got a pair of the Stanton C.324's. See my previous blog about link to check em out. They are used and I bought for 265 total. One of em's cue button doesn't work so I figure I paid 75 for the busted one and 190 for the other fine condition deck. Either way, I got 2 decks that brandnew would cost $800+ for a fraction of that. So how did I do it? I told ya I've been doing my research. I went onto an awesome site which I am now a member of (djforums.com) and checked out the equip. for sale thread. Within two days of checking someone put up the Stantons and I was first to jump on em. **Side note, buying this way is very risky. You can get scammed very easily. I make my best judgement on if the deal was legit but you can never be 100% sure. Hopefully I'm not scammed out.
Anyways, so decks are gunna be sent out Mon. Hopefully I'll have em at the end of the week. Next on my list to do is find a mixer, preferabley Stanton as well, and also get any other items I may need to start my actual DJing adventure. I'll keep you updated but I'm f'in stoked. Later.

**Another side note. www.DJforums.com is a great side, as well as many qualified others, to learn information on every aspect of the DJing world. I suggest if you are interested in doing so become a member and learn as much as you can. Props to them.

So What's the Plan Phila?

The title explains what this post is about. Except for the Phila part, which is my name. Since I'm on the name topic I've been thinking of DJ names I might like for when I become huge and play in front of millions, haaa. I don't think I want to have DJ in front of my name so some names I've thought of are:
1) It's Phila Baby
2) Phila P
3) Phila Baby P
4) .....more to come.

Anyways, back to the original meaning of this posting, my plan. While thinking of my plan, only one thing came to mind, what the hell am I gunna do? I have no clue where to start, how to learn things, or even the technilogical wording of DJing world. Oh well, I'm not worried. Why not? Well 1) Because you can do whatever in this world if you really want to and 2) Everyone had to learn somehow and someway. I've started doing research on the type of equipment I'm looking to start off with. The decision between vinyl and CD equipment came easy for me because I have much of my music on CD's and I'm looking for more modern ways. Obviously, I'm going to go with cd players.

Right now I'm deciding between (2) Stanton C.324's and (2) Pioneer CDJ200's. For me it is a very tough decision between those two models, buying new or used, and on Ebay or from Guitar Center. Looking at everything I'll need I'm looking at spending around $1000 just to actually get started learning and working with this equipment.

Deal-breaker: Since I'm mainly into hip-hop the Stanton is more appealing b/c it has scratching ability, which would work well with my genre of music. However I do know Pioneer seems to be the leader in this field and have had heard little complaints about these decks. They say once you buy Pioneer, you never leave em. I'll have to sleep on this decision a little longer, but I am looking to get started soon. Also I'm considering financing rather than paying all up front due to the fact I am a college student (Michigan State University what up).

Anyways, I plan on going to Best Buy to check out the Stanton and also hit a guy up about the Pioneers. Let ya know the rest of my genious plan after equipment is taken care of.

Welcome to the Good Life!

Alright so here's the shit. I've always been into two things, music and sports. Sports I already take part in and as far as music goes I have everything you don't, including what you do have like 5 months in advance. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying I stay up on my shit cuz this is what I do. Since this is what I do I've always wanted to share my music that I love with everyone else so they can love it too. However I don't want to just give them the site I get my songs off of, or send a mp3 through email. I want peeps to hear the bumps I got and have drunk bitches say to me "OMG OMG I love that last song, what is it?" The I'll just smile and say show me your....ha nevermind I wouldn't. Anyways I made an executive decision that today on 9/9/09 I'm going to enter the music world and become a DJ!

I'm not talking just any DJ though. Yeah yeah, there are tons of guys who can play sick songs or super sick DJ's that mix crazy house/dance/techno/yaddayadda. I'm not going for that. Mainly I'm a hip-hopper, underground fly rap that would get any drunk crowd moving. Don't believe me? Stay tuned as I take this journey I plan on putting my mind, body, soul and bank account all at extremes to achieve one great night, one great moment, one great memory. In the end, looking back at it, that's all I'll need to have no regrets in this adventure. Hopefully I can make a lil dough to pay some dues as well. Holy shit, lets get this party started.
